Information we collect

Information you send us

When you use our contact form, we receive the name, email address, topic and message you enter. The form is delivered to our inbox through FormSubmit, a third-party form processing service, which handles your submission under its own privacy policy.

Information collected automatically

Like nearly every website, our hosting provider automatically records standard server log data when a page is requested, including your IP address, browser type, the page you visited and the page that referred you. We use this data only to keep the site running, secure and free of abuse.

Our pages load fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser connects to Google's servers and Google receives your IP address. We also review aggregate search performance data in Google Search Console, which does not identify individual visitors.

Cookies

BlowingYards does not set its own advertising or tracking cookies. However, when you click an affiliate link and land on a retailer's site, that retailer or its affiliate network may place cookies in your browser so it can credit us if you make a purchase. These cookies are governed by the retailer's own privacy policy, not ours.

You can block or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings. Blocking cookies will not affect your ability to read BlowingYards.

Affiliate disclosure

BlowingYards is reader-supported. When you buy a product through a link on our site, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. These commissions never determine our ratings, rankings or recommendations.

How we use information

• To read and reply to messages you send us.
• To operate, maintain and secure the site.
• To understand which pages are useful so we can improve our content.

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information.

When information is shared

We share information only with the service providers that help us run the site, such as our web host and our contact form processor, and only as needed for them to provide those services. We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect the rights and safety of BlowingYards and its readers.

How long we keep information

We keep contact form messages only as long as needed to respond and follow up. Server logs are retained by our hosting provider according to its standard retention schedule.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to access, correct or delete any message you have sent us by emailing contact@blowingyards.com. Depending on where you live, including California and other U.S. states with consumer privacy laws, you may have additional rights over your personal information, and we will honor valid requests.

Children's privacy

BlowingYards is written for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Links to other sites

Our articles link to retailers, manufacturers and other websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites, so we encourage you to review their policies when you visit them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site or the law changes. The current version always lives on this page.
